He has served as Executive Director (Law & HR) at GAIL (India) Limited and as Director at GAIL Gas Limited, providing strategic leadership in legal affairs and human capital management. Currently, he advises the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, MoPNG, and the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council in part-time roles.

An empanelled Arbitrator and Conciliator with prestigious institutions such as ICA, SIAC, ICC, and IIAC, he also serves as an adjunct faculty at leading institutions, including IIMs. Dr. Mitra’s career reflects a unique blend of operational leadership, regulatory insight, and thought leadership, widely respected across the energy, legal, and academic sectors.
